Hunger Games Movie Review

Hello Fellow Readers!
I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

I was finally able to see the Hunger Games Movie last Saturday with my best friend and ,wow, I was amazed. This was one of the most amazing film film adaptions I have seen. The movie was not as praiseworthy as the book, but it was enjoyable and memorable.

The bit of bad.

I disliked how the whole Avox plot line was ignored. Its not the fault of the screen writers, but my favorite line in the book was not in the movie at all. How would they been able to know the impact on one person of a single line.

In the book, that line was when Katniss hears Rue breathing behind the trees and then walks up to Rue and say, "You know, they are not the only ones who can form an alliance."
I love this line because it illustrates the caring nature of Katniss and shows that how much she really wanted to team up with Rue. It reveals her bitterness to the Careers and fits perfectly with a game show.

What makes this adaption so gratifyingly good!

The costume designer! Katniss's dress for the interview scene was magnificent! I love the bright red flames that burst when she spins, and the bright red color of the dress. The costumes for all the characters were amazingly artistic and beautiful. The clothes matched perfectly with what I imagined the crazy Capital citizen's clothes to be.

The cinematography! Wow. The arena and the woods surrounding District 12 were beautiful. I adore the shots created in the woods and would love to experience the natural environments of those woods. The visuals of the movie caused me to want to be one with nature. The shot of the sky when Rue died was heartbreakenly gorgous to make me feel even more melancholy then usual during that scene.

The characters matched the cast! Jennifer Lawrence was a perfect Katniss. She shined with the same natural gruffness and determination of her character. There was not one moment when Lawrence strayed away from her character. I was surprsied at how much I liked Lawrence because I wished that Hallie Steinfeld, the amazing actress in True Grit, should have been chosen for that part. My other favorite actor was the Donald Sutherland who played President Snow. This actor stood out to me because of his innate creepiness and distinguishing facial expressions.

Well, those are the highlights of my opinon.
What did you like or dislike about this movie?

  2. I was surprised by how much I absolutely LOVED Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss too, especially since I wasn't the biggest fan of the cast when they first announced it, but all of the actors did such an amazing job! :) And I think that Josh Hutcherson as Peeta was PERFECT. He was so charming and sweet and a little bit broken! That sounds like Peeta to me! <3

Amazing movie review, Rachel! I agree with you wholeheartedly that this was one of the best movie adaptations I've ever seen! :)
